Opening of the 2025-2026 Diocesan Assembly: the Church of Niamey united for justice and peace

The 2025-2026 Diocesan Assembly of the Archdiocese of Niamey was solemnly opened by His Excellency Mgr Laurent Lompo, Archbishop of Niamey, during a mass celebrated at the Cathedral. The opening ceremony was held in the diocesan hall in the presence of several distinguished guests, including the representative of the Governor of Niamey, Mr. Omar, the representative of the President of the Islamic Association of Niger, Cherif Mohamed, and Reverend Pastor Mamane Moussa, representative of the Association of Evangelical Churches and Missions of Niger (AMEN).

In his address, Mgr Laurent urged participants to work for justice and peace, recalling that "true peace is born of justice and truth lived out in love."

CADEV Niger marked its presence at this important opening through its Chairperson of the Board of Directors (PCA), its National Executive Secretary (SEN) and the Niamey Diocesan Director. Also present were the technical and financial partners, notably Caritas Denmark, represented by its Program Officer visiting Niamey, as well as the CRS (Catholic Relief Services) Country Representative.

This joint participation reflects the shared commitment of the Church and its partners to promoting a more just, fraternal and united society in the service of integral human development in Niger.
