Safeguarding and complaint management: out-of-school youth equipped by CADEV

From 23 to 24 September, Stade Général Seyni Kountché hosted a training session unlike any other. About fifty out-of-school young people, supported by CADEV-Niger under the PARCAN program funded by Caritas Denmark, came together for two days of learning on safeguarding and the complaint management mechanism.

The official opening was conducted by the National Executive Secretary of CADEV-Niger, who recalled the importance of giving young people not only vocational training but also guidance to become responsible citizens.

The session was then led by Mr. Charlemagne, the organization's Internal Controller, who captured participants' attention by addressing sometimes sensitive topics: child protection, consideration of vulnerable adults, and above all, the procedures to follow to have a complaint heard and find a fair response to it.

Aged 15 to 23, the young people proved particularly receptive. The discussions were rich, punctuated by testimonies and direct questions, proof of their interest and their desire to understand. "This training helps us know that we also have rights and ways to express ourselves," said one of the participants, visibly moved by the discussions.

Beyond the technical tools, a powerful message was conveyed: that of the dignity and protection of every person, without distinction. For these young people in the midst of rebuilding their future, this training represents much more than simple learning: it is a further step toward autonomy, confidence and social integration.
