Launch of Awareness Caravan Activities for the PROTECTRICE Programme in Mainé-Soroa

As part of the implementation of the PROTECTRICE programme, CADEV-Niger officially launched the activities of the awareness caravan on social cohesion, child protection and gender-based violence (GBV) in the commune of Mainé-Soroa, Diffa region.

Implemented by CADEV-NIGER with the support of Caritas International Belgium and funded by the Belgian Government through the Directorate-General for Development Cooperation (DGD), the PROTECTRICE programme (protecting oneself against violence) is a general protection humanitarian programme for survivors of gender-based violence as well as internally displaced persons, host populations, returnees and refugees.

The PROTECTRICE programme is being implemented in five countries, namely Burkina Faso, Burundi, Niger, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.

In Niger, the programme specifically targets people affected by forced displacement in the commune of Mainé-Soroa, Diffa region. Running for 18 months, it is expected to reach 14,043 beneficiaries.

Through this caravan, CADEV-NIGER aims to strengthen community awareness of issues related to peace, social harmony, child protection and the fight against gender-based violence. Community dialogue sessions, awareness messages, cultural events and outreach activities will be organized to promote social cohesion and encourage active community participation.

Through this initiative, CADEV-NIGER reaffirms its commitment to protecting vulnerable people and strengthening social cohesion, a cross-cutting focus integrated into all of its interventions in the service of communities.
