A New Bishop for the Diocese of Maradi
26 February 2025
Cathedral Notre Dame de Lourdes in Maradi, this Saturday, 22 February 2025. Moments of great solemnity as priests, religious sisters, sons and daughters of the Church-Family of God, as well as staff of the diocesan CADEV, all answered the call of Monsignor Ambroise OUEDRAOGO, Bishop of the Diocese of Maradi. A call that was well worth answering, for it concerned not only the life of the Diocese but, above all, the confirmation of good news: the announcement of the appointment of a new Bishop for the Diocese of Maradi by Pope Francis.
Reverend Father Ignatius Kanmurum ANIPU, a member of the Society of Missionaries of Africa, Director of the Centre Foi et Rencontre (CF) and of the Institut de Formation Islamo-Chrétienne (IFIC) in Bamako, Mali, is the new Bishop of the Diocese of Maradi.
A man of the Church with an impressive and rich career, whose path and journey were read out to the assembly by Monsignor Ambroise OUEDRAOGO, who expressed his joy at the choice of his successor, praising the intrinsic qualities of the latter, who served in the parishes of Zinder and Konni, and invited those present to accompany him in his new duties.
Congratulations to the Bishop-elect, and we wish him a fruitful episcopal ministry in the diocese of Maradi.
