Pastoral visit of Mgr Ignatius ANIPU to the CADEV Maradi Diocesan Office
10 October 2025
On Wednesday, 8 October 2025, staff of the CADEV Maradi Diocesan Office had the honor and privilege of welcoming a visit from their new bishop, Mgr Ignatius KAN-MURUM ANIPU, Bishop of the Diocese of Maradi and President of the diocesan Caritas. He was accompanied by Father Justin SEGUERE, Chaplain of the Diocesan Office.
The visit began with a guided tour of the premises, during which Mgr Ignatius took the time to meet each staff member personally at their workplace. This close encounter allowed the Bishop to discover firsthand the realities of the office and the staff's daily commitment to serving the most vulnerable.
At the end of the visit, staff gathered in the meeting room for a fraternal exchange with their distinguished guest.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the Diocesan Director welcomed Mgr Ignatius to "the premises of his Caritas." He then congratulated the Bishop on his appointment, offering his most sincere wishes for success in his ministry.
"Your motto Strengthen your brothers, combined with your rich experience in supporting communities, reassures and encourages us to continue the mission of serving the poor with determination," he said.
To give Mgr Ignatius a comprehensive view of the work accomplished, an institutional presentation of CADEV Niger was given to him, outlining the main areas of intervention and the results achieved.
In his response, Mgr Ignatius ANIPU congratulated the staff for their steady commitment to serving the most disadvantaged:
"I am pleased to discover all that you are doing for the poor, despite a difficult context," he affirmed.
He encouraged the Office to persevere in designing resilience projects for the benefit of vulnerable populations, placing particular emphasis on the training and support of young people and women, essential levers for contributing to the fight against terrorism and poverty.
