Dignity and equality of the human person

All of humanity was created in the image of God. Each of us possesses a fundamental dignity and equality that stems not only from the actions we take but also from our very creation.

CADEV Niger intends to intervene directly, providing moral or material support, without regard to origin, religion, or political opinion.

Solidarity and mutual aid

We are one family, whatever our national, racial, religious, economic, and ideological differences. In an interconnected world, our responsibilities toward our neighbors extend beyond national borders and are limited only by our love for our neighbor. CADEV Niger’s volunteers, working alongside salaried professionals and members of the Church (priests, religious brothers and sisters, and laypeople), act in a spirit of solidarity, generosity, and selflessness on behalf of the population.

Preferential option for the poorest

All economic and social decisions should pay particular attention to the needs of the poor and marginalized. An option for the poor strengthens the whole community, since poverty of any kind affects the entire community.

Working in synergy, complementarity, and subsidiarity

CADEV Niger’s structure is decentralized: grassroots associative bodies work together with executive bodies at the level of the diocesan bureaus and the national coordination office; it favors representativeness, a participatory approach, and collegiality.

Justice, peace, and reconciliation

We are convinced that it is impossible to give someone something that is already rightfully theirs. We aspire to a world in which the voices of the most disadvantaged are heard and taken into consideration, a world in which every individual is free to flourish and live in peace and dignity with their brothers and sisters, in respect of their human rights.

We aspire to a shared desire to live in peace with all our brothers and sisters.

And should a time of tribulation come, the Spirit of Reconciliation will blow strongly enough to sustain this shared aspiration to live together.

Christian-Muslim dialogue

The encounter between diverse cultures and religions in helping the poorest is an enrichment for everyone.

CADEV Niger fosters joint involvement and active collaboration between laypeople and clergy, between Christians and Muslims, and between staff and volunteers.

Accountability

A moral challenge compels us to examine how we use and share the earth’s resources, what we pass on to future generations, and how we live in harmony with God’s creation.

CADEV Niger adheres to standard international norms of effectiveness, transparency, and professionalism.
